Caine’s Arcade - a short film about a 9-year-old lad in East L.A. who made a cardboard arcade in his dad’s car parts shop. He didn’t have many customers until the filmmaker organized a flashmob to come round and play last autumn.

The site for the film is taking donations for a college fund for Caine, and they’re already $39,000 towards the $100,000 total.

Apparently you can ski in cities - Sarajevo in this case - and it looks amazing.

A Voyage to the Moon (Voyage Dans La Lune) - recolored version of the 1902 movie with music by Air.

They made an album, which is longer than the film and is also pretty great.

Yeah this is great.

Beirut - Vagabond

Peep Show - Eating Mummy. Probably my favorite sequence in this whole show. It’s seven minutes, but don’t let that put you off.

Seu Jorge - Life on Mars - from The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. He adapted the Bowie songs in the movie into Portuguese.

The album based on the sessions is also on Spotify.

This looks fun. I like how Wes Anderson uses a consistent color scheme across his films (see the better description of his consistency below).

newyorker:

The long-awaited trailer for Wes Anderson’s eagerly-awaited new film, “Moonrise Kingdom” (scheduled for release on May 25th)—his first since “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” which came out in 2009—reminds me of an entry in Robert Bresson’s book “Notes on Cinematography” on “economy,” citing a note from Racine to his son Louis: “I know your handwriting well enough, without your having to sign your name.”

- Richard Brody (read the rest)

Mighty Boosh - sound of the wind. Pretty much sums up my experience of last night.
